The Kumbh Mela is a unique event in Indian culture and religion, based on the ancient story of Samudra Manthan. According to the story, gods and demons churned the ocean to find Amrit, the nectar of immortality. During the churning of the ocean, Mandarachal mountain was used as the churning stone, and Nagraj Vasuki was the rope. Lord Vishnu became a tortoise to keep the mountain stable. This story is not just religious but also symbolizes discovering our inner strength and achieving freedom.

When the ocean was churned, poison first came out, which Lord Shiva drank. His throat turned blue, and he was named Neelkanth. Afterward, many amazing things came out, and the nectar was the most precious. When Lord Dhanvantari brought the urn of nectar, and a battle began for it between the gods and demons to get it. To protect it, Jayant hi the Amrit Kalash for twelve days in four places: Haridwar, Prayagraj, Nashik, and Ujjain. Drops of nectar fell on these places, making them sacred and the Kumbh Mela is held at these places.
