IRCTC to Develop 'Tent City' in Prayagraj

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) is set to develop a “Tent City” in Prayagraj in preparation for next year’s Maha Kumbh Mela. Sanjay Kumar Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of IRCTC, stated that the “Maha Kumbh Gram” will bring a transformative experience to pilgrimage and tourism. It aims to provide luxurious accommodations combined with cultural experiences, showcasing India’s spiritual diversity. Jain mentioned in a statement, “Our goal is to offer every guest a rich and unparalleled experience.”

As a public-sector undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, IRCTC emphasized its extensive experience in pilgrimage tourism and hospitality across the railway network. It has successfully served over 6.5 lakh (650,000) passengers through its Bharat Gaurav and Astha trains. The company added that this expertise will contribute to making the Maha Kumbh Gram a unique cultural and spiritual destination.

Rahul Himalayan, Director (Tourism and Marketing) at IRCTC, said, “The Maha Kumbh Gram Tent City in Prayagraj will offer modern, well-equipped ‘Deluxe’ and premium camps for guests. These tents are designed to provide a luxurious experience in a spiritual environment.”
